Mr. Chen Yingqi, of Han ethnicity, was born on February 25, 1964. He holds Chinese nationality and does not have the right to permanent residence abroad. He holds a doctoral degree. From 1984 to 1990, he studied at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, obtaining both a master's and a doctoral degree. From 1990 to 2005, he served as a lecturer and associate professor in the Organic Chemistry Teaching and Research Section of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University, and was promoted to professor of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University in 2005. In 2007, he was selected as a third-level talent in the "New Century 151 Talent Project" of Zhejiang Province; in 2009, he was awarded the title of "Top Talents of Fuzhou City"; in 2009 and 2011, he was awarded the "Entrepreneurial Star Award" of Shangyu City, etc. In September 1997, he founded Shangyu Sanhe Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. and has served as the chairman and general manager of the company to this day.
Dr. Chen Yingqi was born in Songxia Town, Shangyu District, Zhejiang Province. From a young age, he was a very intelligent and thoughtful child. After graduating from high school, with outstanding talent, he was admitted to Peking University, a prestigious national university, with the top score in the biology science category of the current year's examination in Shangyu City. He majored in chemistry. The four-year university education cultivated his solid basic professional skills and also nurtured his strong interest in chemistry. From then on, he determined to devote himself to the chemical field in the future. After graduating from university, he chose to study at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one of the most renowned and influential organic chemistry institutions in China both domestically and internationally. He studied under the guidance of Professor Ouyang Benwei, a successor of Nobel laureate Woodward, and focused on basic research in organic synthesis. After six and a half years of diligent study, in the winter of 1990, at the age of 26, he successfully obtained a Doctor of Science degree.
In December of that year, Dr. Chen Yingqi was hired as a lecturer in the Organic Chemical Teaching and Research Department of the Chemical Engineering Department of Zhejiang University. During his tenure, he was full of vigor and enthusiasm. Not only did he complete his teaching tasks outstandingly, but he also actively carried out research on organic chemical application technologies, especially in the fields of medicine and intermediates. In 1995, he was promoted to associate professor and became the academic leader of the organic synthesis drug research direction. During his research period, he completed more than 10 application projects such as "Synthesis and Industrialization Research of 2,3,4-Trifluoromethylbenzene, an Intermediate for Oxifloxacin", and published over 20 professional papers, achieving remarkable results.
In 1992, it was a time when "technology entrepreneurship" was booming. A large number of outstanding intellectuals embarked on the path of turning scientific and technological achievements into industries. At this time, Dr. Chen Yingqi also had the idea of starting a business. In 1993, he was invited by a company in Xiaoshan City and successfully developed the drug Gliclazide for treating diabetes for the factory. After production, the product successfully entered the international market and achieved good economic and social benefits. The initial success gave Chen Yingqi great confidence for starting his business.
In early 1995, a new drug, omeprazole, with promising prospects, caught the attention of Chen Yingqi. Its key starting raw material, 2,3,5-trimethylpyridine, was in great demand on the international market at that time. Only one company in the Netherlands could produce it, and it was extracted and separated from coal tar. The quality and output were severely limited. Could this starting raw material be synthesized from an organic synthesis perspective? With this new research topic, Chen Yingqi led his graduate students to embark on a painstaking exploration and research. With a solid theoretical foundation and bold innovation, they finally successfully synthesized 2,3,5-trimethylpyridine. The achievement of this scientific research was immediately noticed by many chemical enterprise bosses, who all requested to purchase this scientific achievement. At this time, the idea of entrepreneurship had matured in Chen Yingqi's mind. He decisively went to Yiwu with his students and took over the production workshop of a company in Yiwu that had already established a good cooperative relationship. There, they officially produced high-quality 2,3,5-trimethylpyridine and successfully entered the international market. This marked a crucial and successful first step in his entrepreneurial history. This product later won the provincial science and technology progress award in 2000, the national key new product and provincial high-tech product project in 2001, and received an无偿 subsidy from the National Science and Technology Department's Science and Technology Innovation Fund for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in 2002.
After accumulating valuable entrepreneurial capital and management experience, building his own research and production joint base became Chen Yingqi's most urgent desire at that time. In September 1997, with the support of his friends, after a period of intense preparation, he finally began to build his factory on a desolate coastal mudflat in Guiban Township, Shangyu City. He officially registered it as Shangyu Sanhe Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. and took on the position of the company's chairman. At that time, he was the first chairman in Shaoxing City with a doctoral degree, and was extremely well-known. The business circle all liked to call him the "Doctor Chairman". During the company's initial stage, the Doctor Chairman and the employees spent a difficult period together. During the day, they worked under the scorching sun, pulling cotton stalks, moving cement, and transporting brick slabs; at night, they endured mosquito bites and insect stings, reviewing drawings, and making budgets. They lived and ate in two simple work sheds. There was no water, so they pulled it from Xia Mountain; there was no electricity, so they used kerosene lamps as an emergency. With everyone's unremitting efforts, the company completed the construction of the workshop and the installation of equipment in just one and a half months, and officially started production on November 1st.
At the very beginning of the establishment of the company, Chairman Chen promptly initiated the establishment of the company's technology development department. He hired four professors and five graduate students from the Zhejiang University Pharmaceutical Engineering Institute as the company's part-time technical personnel. Using the laboratory of that institute as the research base, a long-term cooperation relationship between the factory and the institute for scientific research and development was established. With the intelligence information and talent advantages of the institute, new products were developed at a high starting point. At the same time, a pilot laboratory was set up at the company's headquarters, responsible for the industrialization research and production of new products from small-scale to medium-scale trials. Under his attention, new products were successfully launched every year.
In this way, the company has always kept pace with the development of technology, leveraging its inherent advantages of integrating research, production and education. It has continuously made breakthroughs of zero, always taking the lead over other companies in taking action, and has gained a significant advantage in the market. The company has grown, its funds have increased, but it has never become complacent. Chairman Chen also guided the company to utilize its accumulated funds for continuous development through rolling investment. With an investment of over 20 million yuan, it built more than ten standardized production workshops, six comprehensive laboratories, an advanced analysis and control center, and the appearance of Sanhe has been completely transformed.
Chairman Chen has always believed in the principle that "the enterprise is people-oriented". He attaches great importance to the recruitment of talents and continuously attracts outstanding university graduates to jointly create development for the company. Among the company's employees, there are 66 people with a college degree or above, accounting for more than 36% of the total number of employees. At the same time, he cherishes the potential talents and always creates conditions for them to work independently to develop new products and participate in workshop production management. He also adopts scientific assessment methods to ensure that they can apply what they have learned and are willing to contribute. For those outstanding talents, he never forgets to give them material rewards. He also remembers the original intention of benefiting his hometown when he founded the company. In our city, he recruited nearly 60 laid-off and unemployed workers with certain qualities, providing them with employment opportunities.
Under the leadership of Chairman Chen, the current Sanhe Company is no longer the desolate 5-acre land and two buildings of the past. Instead, it has expanded to an area of 72 acres, with lush green trees and orderly workshops in the factory. It is now a high-tech medium-sized enterprise. Since its establishment in 1997, the company has been repeatedly honored as a "Top 100 Private Enterprise of the City", and in 2001, it was also recognized as a "Provincial High-tech Enterprise". In the ranking of the top 100 enterprises in Shangyu City, it ranks 76th and is regarded as a promising new enterprise with great potential.
We believe that those with lofty aspirations will surely achieve great things!
